Over 680,000 Tons of Goods Loaded, Unloaded in Bushehr

BUSHEHR Some 683,549 tons of various kinds of goods have been loaded and unloaded in this southern port city during the first four months of the current Iranian year (started March 20).
Abdolkarim Maleki, managing director of the provincial Ports and Shipping Organization, told reporters here on Sunday that the figure shows an increase of 11 percent as compared to that of the corresponding period last year.
He stress the potential of Bushehr Port to load and unload some two million tons of goods a year.
According to ongoing plans in line with the objectives of the Third Five-Year Development Plan, some three million tons of goods are to be loaded and unloaded in this port by the end of the current year, Maleki added.
Privatization, boosting nominal capacity, activating the special economic zone, improving the quality of services and the environment, and acceptance into world and standard educational conventions will be among future objectives of the port, he stated.
